It seems to be working great!
We've been using a product like this for the last 8 years or so. When it died, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to find a suitable replacement. Some of the other ones we've tried actually make a clicking sound that freak out our cats. This one seems to be working great. We haven't used any bug control chemicals/devices/etc for the ten years we've lived here and we still don't have to! We see a random small spider here or there once in a great while, but nothing that tells us it isn't working. Our cats don't mind it at all. Interestingly, a while back our town had a moth worm (?)infestation and they were crawling all over everyone's exterior walls. We didn't have any on our house. That showed me these products do work (when they work with the wiring of the house). We love it! And it's one less toxin in our environment. Just remember if you have a larger house that you'll need more than one.

This product really works!
I have owned this product for nearly three weeks now and I love it simply because it really works! I have yet to spot a single spider or mice. The main reason that I bought this unit was to repel rodents away from my car. I just spent $4500.00 on my car to replace the engine wires and the main computer that was fried due to the rodents chewing on engine wires! This unit is really fantastic, I no longer see rat/mice trails any where near my house. There is only one thing that I 'm trying to find out and that is, why some of my guests can actually hear the unit? Not that this bothers me at all but I though humans were not supposed to hear the low frequency that this unit generates.

Plenty of Features, Poor Primary Performance
I purchased this product, about 2 weeks ago, in the hopes that this type of pest repeller had improved since the last one I attempted 5 years ago. This item has a thoughtful design, including a pass-thru plug (2 prong) and nightlight, and the innovative addition of an air ionizer that made placing this in a bathroom or closet a multi-purpose solution.

When I first plugged the unit into my downstairs bathroom outlet, my 2 cats 30 feet away in the living room started to growl and ran upstairs. My child came downstairs shortly afterward complaining about the painful warbling sound coming from downstairs. Apparently the ultrasonic frequency is outside of adult hearing, but adoloscent ears have a hammer and anvil response range beyond that of adults (until they're done growing, and the body loses flexibility, such as when the bones start to harden). I further tested the unit in the garage and an upstairs closet, but found the results were the same for both cats and family.

I am unsure of how pests respond to this unit, but it definitely repelled my cats and child, forcing me to discontinued use of the product.

Works great with multiple units in large studio
We had a nightmare of a mouse problem that sprung up seemingly overnite. We tried all kinds of traps and the mice could not be tricked. We finally decided to try these things, although I thought they seemed like a total crock. Well, we placed 4 of them throughout our 700 square foot studio apartment and that night we heard some intense chewing - we had just filled all of the holes in our walls and so I assume it was a mouse trying to chew its way out - and ever since that night we have had no more mouse problems. It's been months now and we haven't seen a single sign of a mouse. Amazing.

No mice chaser
I had the product for about two weeks in my 600 sqt ft apartment and it as a precaution and it just so happened that as i watched tv one night i saw a couple of mice run right pass the product, so I AM NOT PLEASED!

Cheap piece of ....
I actually bought a slightly different model of this product that ... doesn't sell, the X-Contro by Lentek. It's the same thing but without the flashing light. I bought it because we were having problems with rats and racoons in our yard (rats eating from our bird feeders and racoons just tearing the yard up).

I was attraced to the Lentek products because of the 900Mhz motion detector that would set it off if anything moved within a 15' radius. What I found out was that the rats were too small to set it off, so unless I was willing to run a cord out to it so it could run in continuous mode, the rats were safe.

Luckily (I guess), within 2 weeks of setting it up, the motion detector had essentially stopped working and it was going off every 15-20 seconds whether there was any motion or not. That actually helped with the rats and I was a bit thankful for the defect.

However, the advantage of having the device activate every few seconds was mitigated by the noise that it made. New out of the box, the device makes a very pronounced clicking whenever the speakers turn on or off. It's audible enough that when it was setup outside and I had the windows open I could hear it on the other side of my house. Although annoying, that was acceptable to me.

But as time went on, the device became more and more audible, letting out fairly loud, gargled squeaks and chirps from time to time. It seemed to be most pronounced when the device would get wet (it claims to be weatherproof). Finally, today, it has gotten to the point where it is completely audible (and loud)regardless of the frequency range I set the device to. So, I have had to take it down -- since I live in a somewhat compact neighborhood, having that kind of noise blasting out every 20 seconds is a sure way to get death threats from the neighbors.

The most annoying part of this is that, in the end, it never seemed to deter the racoons, who continue to tear up my yard with abandon. Also, as another testament as to how cheaply this thing seemed to be constructed, there is a glued-on piece of paper that sits around the device's controls and provides captions for each. Within 3 days of putting this outside, that paper had curled up and pulled off the device because of the heat (90 F, but it was in a completely shaded area).

Pure Junk, buy the Weitech instead.
I have been sucessfully using the Weitech Yard protector continuously for two years. But I keep the frequency set for cats only. Any other frequency may irritate the neighborhood dogs.
Unfortunately, a band of racoons recently began to terrorize my pond at night. So I decided to add a second motion sensitive pest repeller. I had hoped the Lentek yard control would compliment the Weitech. BUT, the Lentek is a piece of junk right out of the box. The motion sensor immediately activates and never turns off. It would not be so bad if the strobe light was not constantly flashing. I plan on trashing the Lentek and buying another Weitech.

BAD SERVICE
After few hours the strobe light quit working. We sent Yard Contro back to Lentex Dec 2002. We have tried at least 20 times to find out what is going on we have been told we sent you a new unit 3 times and never received it. We were told we will send your money back twice. We have been told they are out of stock. Now their phone service is not working. Save your money and alot of frustration and buy something else. 7/22/03 still have not received a new unit or our money back. We are still calling as of this date. We call aleast once a week. Their phone service is out of order.

killer mouse trap!!!
My apartment building has a terrible mouse problem. I thought I'd dent the population in a perhaps futile attempt at trapping the ones I could and releasing them outside. The trap worked the first time. I caught a little bugger, and successfully let it go. All was well with that. The second time, the mouse was seemingly paraplegic with a broken tail, presumably from the violent action of the trap as it whisked the rodent into its bowels. The third time, the mouse was caught half in half out in the gears and workings of the device. It was also fatally injured by blunt trauma to the back. Its hips and legs were snagged by the trap as it squealed and attempted to escape. The trap succeeds at trapping, but I am not certain that it has much of a heart. Thanks!

Hardly Humane Mouse Trap
This trap is hardly humane. The first mouse was killed in the mechanism. The second mouse was trapped in the air hole-his mouth was completely stuck-I had to pry the poor guy out. The third mouse was again caught by its leg in the revolving catcher. I've had much better luck with the Victor Tin Cat. The mice live to release them.

It works too well
We have a farm shed that was overun with Deer Mice.
They continually build nests inside cars and trucks and have cost us hundreds of dollars in damages, thus they had to be eliminated.
Poison is not an option because of all the wildlife in the area.
I wanted a mousetrap that would allow me to release other innocent small rodents uninjured so the Ketchall sounded ideal as it would catch several in a single night.
Every night I set the trap, and every morning it was empty. The reason?
We had so many mice that after six mice are trapped, the spring unwinds and the door stays open so that all the mice get out. I finally had to use snap traps to thin them out. It will catch from 1 to 4 mice and keep them in, but if you have a real mouse plague, this trap is not the answer. The product could be improved with some sort of catch that would prevent the door from opening once the spring has run down.

Great addition to the Rat Zapper
The Rat Tale is designed to be used with the Rat Zapper Ultra. It plugs into the top of the unit, and flashes whenever the trap has been activated. Since I had my Rat Zapper in the back of the attic, it was a big pain to go up into the attic every night to check the trap. Checking the trap a lot also discourages rats from entering it if it is constantly moved. The Rat tale has about a 25 foot long cord, and I was able to let it hang down from my attic (see picture). I kept looking up at it every time I came home, which I later found out was unnecessary since this thing flashes like crazy when it goes off. The LEDs are very bright so, there is little chance you will not notice is. I recommend it for anyone who plans to put the Rat Zapper in an inconvenient location.

Great enhancement for Ultra Rat Zapper
I hesitated to spend the extra money on this, but I am SO glad that I did. I thought that I bought it as an indulgent convenience, but now I know that it enhances the efficiency of the Ultra Rat Zapper tremendously. This is a great enhancement to the Ultra Rat Zapper!

I've had my Ultra Rat Zapper and Rat Tail for over two weeks with no activity. The Zapper is in the garage, and the Rat Tail on my kitchen floor. Well, 3 nights after the freely accessible dog food was removed from the garage (duh!), BINGO! I noticed the flashing lights of the Rat Tail within an hour. Because the Zapper had been sitting for so long with no activity, it wasn't on my mind, and I would not have thought to walk out to the garage to check on it. But because of the Rat Tail, I didn't need to think about it.

I emptied the Zapper, reset it, and plugged in the Rat Tail and left it. Next pass through the kitchen...yep, the lights are flashing again! Woo Hoo! I dumped and resest the Zapper, went to bed, and woke up not thinking about the Zapper, even though it had been thrilling to catch two already. I stumble into the kitchen in my morning fog to be greeted by the flashing lights yet again! The other reviewer was right...you can't miss the flashing lights if you're anywhere within the sight line.

I love this thing! The first rat would still be sitting in the Zapper, discouraging all the others from entering, had I not gotten the Rat Tail. Did I mention how cute it is, when the little eyes are alternately blinking??! :-)

The cord is small enough to wrap around the edge of my door within the door frame, with no damage to the cord. Another reviewer stated that the cord was 25 feet, but the product specs say it is only 12 feet. I think 12 feet is probably accurate. But that's plenty long enough for my uses. If you have any concern about the length, you might want to measure the distance from the location of the Zapper to a noticable placement of the Rat Tail, to make sure it will be sufficiently long enough.

You wouldn't be reading this review unless you had a rodent problem. Bottom line: The rats aren't hanging out where you are. Buy the Rat Tail so it will be! If you're going to spend the money on the Ultra Rat Zapper, go ahead and spend it on this. You will NOT be sorry.

Useful Addition
The rat tale, placed in an easy-to-see location, allows one to tell at a glance whether the trap, which may be in a hard-to-see location, needs to be emptied. I recommend it.

Gets clever mice
In my garage I currently have 4 of these babies, 6 of the Victor brand and 4 of a different brand - all similar style (quick-set, easy disposal). The intruder traps outperform the others by orders of magnitude!

It was not uncommon to check the traps in the morning and find 4 dead mice in the intruders and none of the others even snapped!

I only bought the other traps because I could not find the intruder mouse traps at our local stores any more. I think our mice are just too clever for the other traps. The intruder traps are truly hair-trigger and really work.

Occasionally I'll find one snapped without a mouse. Make sure you tie a string to them. Before I started doing that, I had a couple of traps walk away probably because they snapped on a mouse's tail.

We live in the great wilderness known as Connecticut and have some very clever mice who, despite my best efforts, manage to find their way into our home every winter. I finally got sick of risking digits every time I needed to set a mouse trap (although I miss the rush, I need to use a keyboard every day at the office). The next step was to get a cat, but happily I found these first since I hate cats. In contrast to the wooden devices first introduced in early 12th century Europe, these traps are extremely easy to bait, set and place. You have to try really hard to hurt yourself with one of these -- in fact, I don't think it's possible. The entire design is very clever and the product photo on amazon doesn't do them justice. A quantum leap forward in trap design.

ineffective & overpriced
I bought one of these traps to deal with an attic rat. it turns out that this trap is far less effective than a traditional trap, and more expensive as well. the trap captured the rat (not a large one) exactly as designed (by the neck), but utterly failed to kill it--even after half an hour.

Unless you relish the thought of dealing with the rat yourself, avoid this product. It's ineffective, cruel, and overpriced.

Worth IT!
This Bait Station is of correct size to place the TomCat Rat Trap into also. It is a good quality plastic and I expect many years of use. Rat Trap
We have recently had rats in our basement eating everthing. We tried all kinds of traps with no luck. We bought the Victor Electronic rat trap from our local hardware store. It taked 4 c batteries and will last up to about 12 to 20 rats. In the first 24 hours we had caught 4 rats. Two days later we had a total of 6 rats caught. We paid $40.00 plus $5.00 for batteries and it is worth every penny. No meses to clean up, you just just give a little shake and the rat falls into the trash can. Best rat trap ever.

A sure killer, once you figure out the trick
(1) These traps are greatly superior to the older wooden traps. They are neat, clean, and cool in a gadgety sort of way. I bought 3 of these, 4 of the M144s, and I set 2 of the old fashioned type that my exterminator put in (and the rats cleaned out without getting hurt). Rats were keeping us awake, and we were really anxious to get them.

(2) One website recommended using gloves to handle the traps. It said that human scent could scare off the rats. I followed that advice.

(3) One website recommended putting the traps out unarmed for a couple of days so the rats could become accustomed to eating from it. I did not follow that advice. The rat noises were keeping us awake, and I did not have the patience. It sounded like good advice though.

(4) I did not catch anything the 1st two nights I had this set. Then I started slicing walnuts and putting them around the traps. The first night I did that, I caught a rat. It is useful to note that all of the walnut pieces surrounding the trap had been eaten, all. So the rat ate all of the 'safe' food, and then went for the peanut butter/oat/walnut paste that I put in the trap.

(5) I also used a Victor M144 Power Kill rat trap. Same procedure worked, actually I used the trail of walnuts trick first with the M144.

Score so far: 1 kill for the Electronic trap, 2 kills for the M144, but I used my walnut trail trick with the M144 first. For the squeamish, the Electronic trap is easier to deal with, but check the reviews from some of the other users for comments about getting shocked. I used leather gloves to handle insertion of the batteries. I turned the unit off before attempting to unload the dead rat. I wear gloves to place the unit and turn it on/off, which is probably ridiculous, but why not. I have the gloves anyway.

These Work Well Until They Stop Working

I bought one of these rat traps after having no success with Victor's small-opening electronic mouse traps. (The small opening apparently seemed sus[picious to the mice -- not one ever entered. If I were a mouse *I* wouldn't walk into one of those either!) The large opening in the rat trap made it seem innocuous to the mice, and we started catching mice regularly. Unfortunately after 6-8 mice the unit stopped charging up, even with new batteries. I sent a complaint to Victor, and they were nice enough to take back the non-functioning unit and send me a new one, which killed the remaining few mice. After a hiatus in mouse problems, we started having them again and I brought out the replacement unit again. After catching another half-dozen mice or so, it also stopped working. (It appears to charge up, but mice seem to be able to walk in and eat the bait without being killed.) So basically you have to think about this as being "disposable" after every 6-12 mice, which means that they cost about $5-$8 per mouse killed. I'm now going to look for a different brand that might last longer and cost less per mouse.

Oh, like two other reviewers I also got shocked one time replacing the batteries.
