Product Reviews
From the Manufacturer
Easy to set by hand or foot. Patented interlocking teeth. Removable bait cup allows trap to be service without being set. Motomco's mechanical traps are ideal for capturing the occasional "intruder" or as part of a more extensive control program. Traps are easy to use and work well along walls, in corners or wherever rodents travel. TOMCAT reusable rat and mouse traps set in one easy motion and are safer to use the conventional snap traps.
This Thing REALLY Does The Job Fast! And They Don't Get Away!
This is THE best rat trap I've ever used! I don't have to worry about smashing my fingers by accident while trying to get it into position; to set this one you just step on the back of it (or you can squeeze it with your hand). I don't set it off by accident as I'm trying to maneuver it into position; this one isn't on a hair trigger like the old fashion kind. Meerly jostling it won't set it off. The rat can only approach from the desired side so there is no chance of him being tossed away from the trap as can happen with the old fashion kind. Best of all, there is virtually NO WAY for a rat to get to the bait without setting this thing off - every time! That's because the bait is positioned such that he must press the lever to get to it. It's also positioned such that they never get "kinda" caught. Lastly, those "teeth" pretty much insure that he's not going anywhere.
With the regular trap I had more sprung traps that caught rats. With this trap I got one within the 1st hour of setting it out, over and over and over again! It works!
Ideal for those who enjoy torturing small creatures
Look, I dislike rats as much as anyone, and I'm well aware of the finger-breaking potential of the traditional rat trap. So I had high hopes when I placed the Snap Trap, baited with peanut butter, in my attic. A few days later, in the middle of the night, I heard a commotion in the attic that sounded like a squeaking monkey banging on a cooking pot. This went on for several hours before I dragged my sorry @#! out of bed, climbed a ladder, and found a rat, its head completely enclosed in the trap, squeaking pitifully and trying to escape.
Recall that an ordinary trap works by snapping the rat's neck. The rat dies instantly. This device, on the other hand, merely grabs the rat's head with the force of a small binder clip. The rat then suffocates, if it's lucky, or starves. Either way, it's a slow, slow death. This inadequate force, by the way, is also why the snap trap is safer for humans. In the end, I had to kill the rat myself. Wasn't that the trap's job?
So, if you enjoy hearing tortured animals slowly suffocate or starve in your attic (for hours, or possibly even days), then you should certainly purchase this product. Otherwise, look elsewhere.
Tom Cat traps SUCK!!
Every Tomcat product I have bought either did not work or was defective!! I guess they don't have good quality control or they are just content on selling garbage to unsuspecting consumers. The Snap Traps I bought for mice did not work at all, they got the food and the traps were never tripped. I just recently bought their traditional rat traps - two of them in the pack were installed backwards - the spring bar was loaded to the opposite end of the bate plate. I had to remove the spring bar and reinstall it the other way around to work properly. Total garbage - I have never experienced this with other manufactures. I even tried out the live catch boxes and they were not designed well either - the mouse was able to eat the bait and get back through the trap door. Seems to be that they are purposely making these products as cheap as possible, betting on the fact that once you take it home, you won't bother to bring it back for a refund and just throw their garbage product in the trash like I did. Don't waste your time.
